Terms of Service

Effective date: February 25, 2026

1. About Campus Market

Campus Market is a peer-to-peer marketplace exclusively for verified college and university students. The platform facilitates buying and selling of goods with convenient on-campus pickup. Campus Market provides the technology platform only and is not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Eligibility and account requirements

To use Campus Market you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and a currently enrolled student at a participating institution. You must register with a valid school email address and complete any required identity verification steps. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You may not transfer your account to another person, create multiple accounts, or use the platform on behalf of a non-student without prior written authorization from Campus Market.

3. Listings, accuracy, and transactions

Sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of their listings, including descriptions, photographs, pricing, item condition, and any applicable sizing or specification details. Listings must describe items the seller currently owns and has the legal right to sell. Buyers should carefully review listing details before committing to a purchase. All transactions are intended for in-person exchange at designated campus pickup locations unless the platform explicitly supports an alternative fulfillment method. Campus Market does not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or authenticity of any listed item.

4. Payments, fees, and payouts

When payment features are enabled, transactions are processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. Campus Market may charge a platform service fee on completed transactions. Payout timelines are subject to the payment provider's processing schedule and any applicable holds. Campus Market reserves the right to delay, withhold, reverse, or limit funds in cases involving suspected fraud, open disputes, chargebacks, policy violations, or legal compliance requirements. Sellers are responsible for any applicable taxes on their sales.

5. Safety, conduct, and community standards

Campus Market is committed to providing a safe environment for students. You agree to meet in well-lit, public locations on campus whenever possible and to avoid sharing unnecessary personal information during transactions. The following conduct is strictly prohibited: harassment, threats, or intimidation of any kind; fraud, misrepresentation, or deceptive practices; impersonation of another person or entity; spam, phishing, or unsolicited commercial messages; any activity that violates applicable law or your institution's code of conduct. If you feel unsafe at any point during a transaction, do not proceed and report the issue immediately.

6. Prohibited items and content

The following categories of items and content are prohibited on Campus Market: illegal goods or substances; weapons, ammunition, and explosives; counterfeit, replica, or stolen merchandise; items that infringe on intellectual property rights; hazardous materials; alcohol, tobacco, and controlled substances; animals and live organisms; items that violate your school's policies. We reserve the right to remove any listing and take enforcement action without prior notice if we determine, in our sole discretion, that a listing violates these Terms or applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

All Campus Market branding, logos, designs, and software are the property of Campus Market and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any Campus Market materials without prior written consent. By posting content (listings, images, reviews) on the platform, you grant Campus Market a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the platform. You retain ownership of your original content.

8. Enforcement and account actions

We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice, suspend or permanently terminate accounts, remove listings or other content, restrict access to features, cancel or reverse transactions, or take any other action we deem necessary to protect the platform, our users, and our community. Grounds for enforcement include but are not limited to safety concerns, fraud, harassment, repeated policy violations, or misuse of school-only access restrictions.

9. Disputes and resolution

Campus Market may facilitate dispute resolution between buyers and sellers by reviewing transaction evidence and communications, but we are not obligated to resolve any dispute and do not guarantee any particular outcome. Platform-level decisions regarding listings, payments, refunds, and account restrictions are made at our sole discretion and are final. For disputes that cannot be resolved through the platform, you agree that any legal claims arising from your use of Campus Market will be resolved through binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by applicable law.

10. Limitation of liability

Campus Market is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Campus Market and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the platform.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Campus Market and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.

12. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Campus Market operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes not subject to arbitration shall be brought in the courts of that jurisdiction.
